🌍 From Namibia to Somaliland: Scaling Community-Led Conservation Across Africa The Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) is bringing proven conservation models from Namibia to Somaliland, demonstrating how local communities can be the most powerful guardians of wildlife. 📈 The Namibian Success Story: Since 1998, Namibia has established 80+ communal conservancies covering nearly 1/5 of the country. The results? Wildlife populations recovered (cheetahs, elephants, black rhinos, desert lions), tourism flourished, and communities gained sustainable income + access to natural resources. 🚀 Now Scaling to Somaliland: After a decade of partnership with Somaliland’s government on anti-trafficking efforts, CCF is adapting this proven model for nomadic pastoral communities:
✅ SACSO Coalition – 10 member organizations (including 40+ women’s groups via NAGAAD Network)
✅ Two Pilot Conservancies – Awdal (29 villages, 1,472 km²) & Geed Deeble (16 villages, 585 km²)
✅ Future Farmers Program – Adapted curriculum for sustainable livestock & predator-friendly practices
✅ New Education Complex – 15,000 sq ft facility at CRCC (supported by Royal Commission for AlUla) 🎯
